The costs involved in following England to the 2010 World Cup will encourage many to view it as a once in a lifetime experience, according to Lonely Planet.
Commenting recently, Tom Hall, editor of the acclaimed travel guide, said that although there is no shortage of enthusiasm among English fans, the costs involved in travelling to South Africa are in many cases a prohibitive factor.
However, he added that there a few ways canny fans can limit the financial damage to a certain degree.
"There is talk of people going across for the second round phase of the competition. By that time tickets and hotels may have abated in terms of pressure a little bit, allowing some good deals to be found," he explained
According to a recent report from Virgin Money, the individual cost of supporting England all the way to the final of the 2010 World Cup will be £6,399 each, with a total expenditure from England fans estimated at £320 million should England go the distance.
