ETF Securities is this week launching Europe's exchange-traded currency (ETC) platform, responding to growing demand for currency exposure. From today (November 9th), a range of currency exchange-traded commodities will be listed on the London Stock Exchange, tracking indices produced by Morgan Stanley.Speaking to the Financial Times, the company's chief operating officer Nik Bienkowski commented: "With what has been happening in equities, hedge funds and private equity in the financial crisis investors want to put their money somewhere less volatile, more transparent and liquid."He added that, after a brief cessation of trading in some asset classes due to concern about counterparty risk during the AIG bailout, the company has now fully collateralised all of its ETCs with Morgan Stanley.AIG is in altogether ruder health than it was a year ago, the latest earnings reports from the company show. In the third quarter, the insurer registered a profit of $455 million, compared with a loss of $24.4 billion last year.
