Belize offers expatriates an enticing tropical climate and an attractive tax regime, the Daily Mail has claimed.
The paper reports that in recent years, the Central American country's liberal property laws have also appealed to many British expats, allowing people to follow their dream of owning their own overseas retirement home.
As a former British colony, it is also the only country in Central America where English is the official language, which is also likely to appeal to many considering a move as the approach retirement.
Foremost Currency's Adam Bobroff explained another economic incentive to choosing Belize: "People over the age of 45 can apply to join the Belize Retired Persons Incentive Programme, considered to be one of the best in the world for retiree tax breaks.
For those keen to keep working, tourism business is also strong in Belize, as the country enjoys close ties with the US and Canada.
