The euro is likely to remain supported thanks to its position as the main rival to the dollar, a research note has claimed.
Research by investment bank Goldman Sachs said that the currency will be supported as the sole rival to the dollar for currency diversification, the Bloomberg news agency reported.
The eurozone remains stable but not overly attractive, the research said, but swings in dollar sentiment may serve to assist the position of the euro.
"The euro also remains the only true challenger to the dollar in terms of foreign exchange reserve currencies," the news provider claims the research said.
Aside from this, the main feature of the euro will still be its role as the "anti-dollar", the researchers, led by economist Thomas Stopler, said.
The dollar has been under pressure on foreign currency exchange markets this week, with its value dropping as a result of a number of factors, including signs of positive data from the UK which helped to support sterling.
