The euro neared a recent high against the dollar in early trading on Monday, September 7th, reports Reuters.According to the newswire, the currency reached $1.4333 against the dollar, a strengthening of 0.3 per cent. However, Sydney-based currency strategist Sue Trinh of RBC Capital Markets told Reuters that the move must continue if it is to become a major market event. She says: "The key really is the euro at $1.4450. That needs to break to signal a break outside of recent ranges."If the currency were to reach the benchmark figure, it would break beyond the eight-month high achieved in August, when it stood for a time at $1.4448.The rise against the dollar was accompanied by a slightly higher gain of 0.4 per cent to the yen.As at 08:34 BST on Monday, September 7th, the euro had gained further ground, with the exchange rate standing at $1.4336 to the euro according to Reuters.
