Published by Mark Smith-HalvorsenThe dollar is finding growing support on the foreign exchange market as speculation grows that the economic recovery is losing momentum.Bloomberg reports that bearish bets on the greenback are being closed by investors, which is helping to lift it against its competitors in the short term.In particular, confidence in the outlook for euro-area nations is falling, the news provider reports, adding the consumer spending has also not risen at the rate expected in the US, signalling further falters in the global economy. As a result, traders have cut bets in a decline for the greenback against the euro, Swiss franc, Canadian dollar and yen, while expectations of a rise against the British pound have increased, Bloomberg reports, citing data from Washington's Commodity Futures Trading Commission.Unwinding of long positions in the euro are supporting a natural flow back towards the dollar, Niels Christensen from Nordea Bank in Copenhagen told the news provider. On the short-term markets, the euro has risen amid speculation that a deal of Greece's funding may be reached soon. For more information on foreign exchange treasury services and risk management, visit our Corporate FX site
