Published by Mark Smith-HalvorsenBrazil has weathered the global financial crisis remarkably well with help from a strong tourism sector, according to the country's tourism office.Glauco Fuzinatto, UK and Ireland director at the Brazilian Tourist Office, said that the country has enjoyed strong interest from British travellers in the past two years, bringing revenue to the country's hospitality and visitor attraction sectors."Brazil benefits from a strong domestic market and foreign tourists that travel to Brazil do so for longer than average and spend more money than average, boosting the Brazilian economy," he explained.Mr Fuzinatto added that the country proves particularly popular with Brits during the winter months. However, British travellers heading to Brazil may benefit from checking out exchange rates on foreign currency well ahead of time to ensure the best deal, particularly as the country's currency, the real, appreciated by more than a third over the course of 2009, making it the top-performing currency in the world during the year. For competitive rates and commission free travel money, visit our Travel FX site.
